Cosmos June Developments
Consolidation and new proposals for ICS and Neutron

TL;DR

The Cosmos Hub's bet on security seems to be paying off. IBC Chains (within the cosmos, using the cosmos SDK but not previously aligned with the hub) are beginning to transition into the AEZ (Atom Economic Zone). Either they are looking to leverage the security of the ATOM validator set for lower costs within their own chains or they are dispensing with their own chains all together and transitioning over to Neutron chain which is already part of the AEZ, paying fees to ATOM stakers.

  • EVMOS > to ICS (inter-chain security)
  • COMDEX > to ICS (inter-chain security)
  • Mars Protocol > Neutron
  • Astroport Finance > Neutron

ICS (inter-chain security)

Now that Partial Set Security is live and validators can opt into securing certain consumer chains, Comdex has proposal in to join the AEZ (atom economic zone). The flexibility of Partial Set Security will assist in this transition.

A deep dive on Comdex and the institutional grade, on-chain, Real World Assets the chain facilitates will follow in the coming days.

Also during June EVMOS have signaled their intention to transition to become a ICS consumer chain within the AEZ.

Neutron

Neutron, the smart contract platform that is most closely aligned with the Cosmos Hub (through ICS), is on-boarding more projects. Astroport Finance and Mars Protocol are transitioning over to Neutron instead of running their own chains due to the efficiencies that Neutron can bring plus the security of the ICS and Cosmos Hub validator set.
